Dreaming in Pastels

Washes of pigment. Nude tones accentuated by texture.
A bare face paired with a bright plastic lip.

WELCOME to the first photo shoot collaboration with myself and the talented hair maven Jenny Strebe of The Confessions of a Hairstylist. I couldn't be more excited to be sharing these images with all of you. I can't get enough pastel hair in my life! And Jenny really brought this trend to life using the powder spays from Label M on model Cassie Brooks with photographer Tiffany Egbert. As soon as Jenny and I decided to create a pastel look using powder color sprays, I just knew I wanted to rock out a fresh bright look with an emphasis on texture and highlights.

Makeup brands featured in these looks...
MAC Cosmetics
Kett
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
Anastasia Beverly Hills

Look 1 (featured above)- I wanted the look to be as nude as possible. I gave the skin a full coverage with MAC's Prolongwear concealer in NW15 on the high planes of the face and NW30 in the contouring areas. I added a light all over coverage with Kett HD foundations. I highlighted around the eye with matte textures and then applied a lipgloss to the eyelid. You can see the subtle shine and highlight from different angles. I added some basic shape to the brow and finished by mixing a grey and light lavender lipstick to Cassie's lips.

Look 2 (pastel braid)- The same skin and eye from previous look. I changed up the lip color to reflect the pink fishtail braid. I used the OCC Lip Tar in Mannequin and topped it off with MAC Lip Glass.

Look 3- (Purple beehive)- With that dark pop of purple I couldn't help but bust out some oranges! I love mixing cool tones with warm tones. With the hair being a deeper shade, I decided to use sheer washes of orange tints. All the face makeup/brow is the same from the first two looks but then I applied MAC's Bamboo Cream Color Base onto the crease of the eye. I changed the lip by mixing Bamboo with MAC lipstick Fleshpot and Lustering lip gloss.

Last but not least, my favorite look of the day!
Look 4 (multi color pixie)- With all the nude aerated makeup going on, I needed to pop in two of my favorite features for the final look. Brows and lips! I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pen and MAC Brun eyeshadow and #266 brush to create her dark and defined brow. I recreated the eye from look 1 to remove the orange hues. And finally, a lip! A bright, plastic, unapologetically loud lip. I used MAC Prolongwear lip liner in Shock Value and topped it off with MAC lip glass.

How killer is this hair?! Jenny seriously kills it. This multi color hair look is amazing and lets be real, I want to have bright hair all day, errryday. This is just the first of many collaborations she and I will be doing together so stay tuned! You can see some of her favorite shots from this shoot HERE.

HUGE thank you to this team of talented people for coming together to showcase beauty and one of our favorite trends. Tiffany Egbert is one of my favorite photographers in Arizona. You can find her link throughout this post to book her for beauty work as well as weddings. If you are interested in booking Cassie for a gig please email me and we can connect you.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm definitely dreaming in pastels!

Xx,
Stephanie
